Quick update on the album
Besides the new addition of Ruben, things have been a little quiet on the Kowai-front. But that does not mean that we are twiddling our thumbs! As you may have spotted on our Facebook stream, several photos were posted of us recording songs (or pressing buttons that do... stuff, ask Bertran). At the moment we have demo recordings of the potential songs that could make it on the album, of which nine will actually make it. Now we have to engage in the difficult process of choosing the ones we like most, and trying to improve those songs even further. Nonetheless, we are very excited about the upcoming album, also partly due to our cooperation with someone special. More updates coming up, so stay tuned!

New Synth Player
We are very happy to announce our new synth player: Ruben Marrenga! Before joining Kowai, Ruben played in the symphonic metal band Vanadis.
Ruben:
‘I’m very grateful that Kowai decided to choose me as their new synth player and I’m looking forward to rocking and living our dreams together. From the moment I was invited to audition I knew what a great opportunity this was. Musically I think we really match because I’ve been into female fronted metal for years and have experience writing and performing in that genre with Vanadis. Next to the piano, I’ve studied history and I’m currently working in telecommunications. I’m sure Kowai will find the right musical support in me and next to that I think I’ll be a sociable and fun band member!’
Ruben will be replacing Daphne Alberda, who could no longer combine Kowai with her other activities. We thank Daphne for her contribution and the great times we’ve had together and wish her all the best. We welcome Ruben into the Kowai family! |

Interviews, gigs and recordings
After the demo-review from our South American friends earlier this year, a new piece of Kowai media is available for the Chilean public! Laura gave an interview about Kowai and herself. A version for the English speaking among us is available in our press section.
Furthermore, we are happy to announce two new gigs! First we will be supporting the CD release party of "Breathe", the new album of Only Fate Remains, on Friday the 14th of October. This night will start at 20:30 in PopEi in Eindhoven, and will have no entrance fee. Moreover, we will support Stream of Passion in De Spot in Middelburg on the 5th of November. Tickets are available through De Spot's website.
Last, but not least, we are happy to announce that we have started the preparing stages for the recording of our first full-length album! The songs are all done, and we are currently in contact with several producers, to see who can provide the best for Kowai. Expect timely updates on the album's status, with perhaps even some sneak previews thrown in here and there! |
